Autism and Sensory Awareness
Autism Support & Awareness:
Autism Support and Advice (ASAS) is a UK charity based in Portsmouth which supports individuals with high functioning autism and Asperger syndrome.
They also provide training and consultancy within the local community to raise awareness of autism - all training is delivered by a project leader and an individual with Autism/Asperger Syndrome and is tailored to the needs of attendees.
ASA also runs weekly drop ins: Pirates are Cooler than Ninjas (for adults 18+) and C.O.A.S.T. (for 14-19 years); for further information please see their website www.autismsupportandadvice.org
About the Workshop:
Many people with an autism spectrum condition (ASC) experience difficulty in processing everyday information such as sounds, sights and smells. This is known as sensory sensitivity and can create additional difficulties and impact on behaviour.
This workshop examines the sensory difficulties that people with an ASC may experience, the possible impact on behaviour, and ways of reducing the impact.
There will be opportunities to ask questions during the workshop.
